What is IDX?
IDX or Internet Data Exchange is a Multiple Listing Service (MLS)-regulated program that allows real estate professionals to display active listings on their publicly-accessible, personal websites. The intention of IDX as outlined by its author, the National Association of Realtors, is to empower the brokerage community with its contributions to the MLS by enabling broker and agent members to attract and maintain first contact with the online real estate consumer. Prior to IDX, this was something only third-party websites could do.
